Dr. Marci Martel has helped thousands of clients achieve their therapeutic goals through a collaborative approach and integrative medicine. Through the use of various frameworks of therapy to address trauma, performance anxiety and low self-esteem in men, women, adolescents, and children. 

Dr. Martel's career spans several decades of work within communities and with child protective services. She worked with DCYF to reunify families and prevent the placement of children in foster care. She has worked in group homes, provided therapeutic foster care as a licensed foster care provider and donated hundreds of hours to providing therapeutic clinical care to those in our community who are less fortunate. She regularly donates her time for various organizations. She has taught psychology and human services courses at the graduate and undergraduate level. Throughout these experiences, she developed an expertise and passion for treating trauma and PTSD. 

Northeast Counseling Associates was started in 2001 and incorporated as Northeast Counseling and Coaching, Inc. in 2011. From 2012 through 2014 served as a Supervised Visitation Center in addition to a counseling center and training site. After years of working with individuals and families directly involved in the court system, Dr. Martel shifted the focus of NECC to treating trauma directly through the use of EMDR therapy. Through the use of this evidenced based integrative psychotherapy model, Dr Martel is able to address traumas involving child abuse, sexual assault, one incident events, complex trauma, sex trafficking, combat, kidnapping, domestic violence and the effects on daily functioning in her clients from these traumas. 


Dr. Martel has taught graduate courses in ethics, neuropsychology, cognitive psychology, qualitative analysis and has extensive undergraduate teaching experience. Her research interests are the efficacy of EMDR in the reduction of negative cognitions. She is working on several self-help books to be used in conjunction with trauma therapy.

In addition, Dr. Martel has been consulting with clinicians to help them become Certified in EMDR. She is working on developing training materials to provide Advanced EMDR trainings through EMDRIA.
